A victory for the American Worker!

Rejoice, my Worker Comrades! According to this article in the Houston Chronicle, Congress has no plans to extend the higher level of H1-B visas currently active in the US. That drops the number from 195,000 to 65,000. That’s 130,000 jobs reclaimed for American Workers! At least, that’s what will happen if they don’t act before October 1. Let’s hope they don’t!

Let me add, though, that I’m all in favor of legal immigration to the United States. I’m not a racist, as I’ve been accused, but a nationalist. Indeed, a patriot. If people from other countries want to come here, become citizens and get jobs, that’s great! In fact, I welcome it! We’re a great melting pot of diversity here, and I like it like that, but I’m against the idea of American companies sending jobs overseas. We should keep American jobs for Americans, no matter where those Americans were born.

  1. You’re an idiot. There is no easy way to become a citizen of the United States. One way is to prove your value by working on an H1-B Visa and having an American company sponsor you. Don’t you think this brings in worthier new citizens than people who marry their way into citizenship???

  2. Well, “Don”, if that is in fact your real name, that’s an interesting theory you’ve got. What makes you think H1B1 via holders *stay* in the US? Everyone that I’ve ever known, or heard of, with an H1B1 was just here to make money for a couple of years and then go back home, wherever that might be, and live like a king off of American money. Now, I’ll allow that there might be exceptions, but I haven’t met any.
Also, I believe in American jobs for American workers. Why should good American workers loose out to cheaper foreign labor? No, Donny, *you’re* the idiot. You’d rather have a “higher class” of new Americans at the cost of your own job. How smart is that? Never happen to you, you say? Well, I know I’d rather hire an H1B1 visa holder than someone not smart enough to want to keep their own job or US wages right here in the States. Wake up and smell the new economy, dim bulb!
