Hell Hath No Fury, Indeed!

The moon is a New Moon

Now this is cold!
According to this article, a Japanese woman who was mad at her ex deleted his on-line gaming data. Now, that might not seem like a big deal, but if you’ve spent hours upon hours of your free time building a character, it really sucks! Not to mention all the on-line game time charges that were wasted. Man, that had to have hurt.
And, the Register ran a couple of interesting stories along the same lines not too long ago…
I’m sure you’ve heard tales of internet revenge where a “wronged” husband or wife or the like publishes nasty e-mails or pictures to the web in an attempt to embarrass their estranged significant other. Well, I mostly think of those as urban legend. After all, who would be that mean-spirited and hateful, right? Funny you should ask…
The first story, titled Hell Hath No Fury, is about a woman who caught her husband cheating and published a nasty rant on a “lost friend finder” website, like those reunion sites. She posted not only the details of the affair, including names, but the phone number of the woman who he’d cheated with. Yikes!
The second article, titled Sex, Text, Revenge, Hacking and Friends Reunited, details the story of a 21-year-old man who got friends, who were employees of a UK telecom provider, to forward text messages detailing her infidelity sent to his girlfriend to him as well. He then proceeded to hack several of her accounts and send links to explicit pictures of the two having sex to her friends! Wow, now I understand the whole celebrity “no pictures, no pictures” routine!

Well, all I can say is, I’m glad there aren’t any pictures like that of me floating around out there. What a mess that would be! So, a little advice from your Uncle Jim, kids, when in doubt, don’t take the risk. It may seem all fun and sexy at the time, but it’s better to play it safe than to have your “business” spread all over the Internet for everyone to see!
(Which seems like an oddly appropriate topic, considering that, ironically, today is my anniversary.)

Advice from your Uncle Jim:
"Be careful about the bridges you burn, because one might turn out to be the one you later want to cross."
