These are two of my favorite things, but together in a unique way.

I don’t imagine that it’s any secret that I love science-fiction at this point.  I mean, if you’re anything like a regular or semi-regular reader of this blog, then you know that science-fiction is kind of my “thing”.  But, what may not be quite as apparent is how much I love LEGO.  When I was a kid, back in the dark ages, I could spend hours building things…

All The Best LEGOs

I’m just a big kid.

No, not at heart.  I’m just a big kid.  Period.
I buy Nerf guns for myself.  *Fully automatic* Nerf guns.  And, yes, sometimes, I buy LEGO sets for myself.
I admire the guys who make super-cool original LEGO spaceships and post them on Flickr, but, for those of us with less skill, there are still some great sets we can get for, um, “dioramas”.  Yeah, yeah, that’s it.  As displays.  Definitely not toys which are certainly not played with while making “zoom zoom” sounds.  Nope.  Not at all….

Right, so, anyway, if you’re into that kind of thing, Gizmodo has some of the best new LEGO sets coming out this year.
And, if you’re just keeping your inner child a prisoner this Friday, go look anyway.  They’ll love you for it!

LEGO Masters!

I love LEGOs.

There, I said it and I’m not the least bit sorry, either.
If I had more time, and money, I’d waste as much of both as I could on LEGOs.  Seriously.  Why?  Because I’m a big kid at heart and to make really cool LEGO stuff takes a lot of bricks.  Don’t believe me?  Just look at this gallery on TechRepublic from a recent BrickCon, a big convention for LEGO enthusiasts.  No, seriously, go look.  You wouldn’t believe the things that people create with those modular bricks we played with as kids!  For real!
And, if that wasn’t enough, check out this IO9 story about a guy who made an entire space habitat from LEGOs!  No, not life-size, of course, but to scale.  Now, this was just the kind of thing I would have done as a kid, if I’d had more gray bricks.

Well, anyway, it’s Friday, so you might as well scour those links and dream of a misspent youth!
Enjoy!

Yeah, you read that right.

Frank Lloyd Wright LEGO sets.
Okay, they’re kind of limited, but I have to admit, the idea of owning a LEGO Falling Water sort of appeals to the geeky, little kid in me.
C’mon, it’s Friday!  Loosen up a little, okay?

It’s good work if you can get it

Not quite the “ultimate” geek job, but it would still be fun.

Being an official LegoLand Master Builder, that is. According to this article on Wired News, LegoLand California is looking for a Master Model Builder. The person filling the position will be the seventh on staff and needs a creative mind. They seem to prefer an art background, but it doesn’t seem like a really hard and fast requirement. In fact, the hardest “requirement” sounded like building a sphere out of cubic Legos. I can see in my head how that would look, but I’m not sure I could actually make it happen.
Anyway, I thought this would be a fun article for all you folks out looking for work still. God knows, there’s still a lot of IT folks out looking for jobs. Good luck, everyone, and hang in there. The market really is starting to turn around. Hang tough, and follow up on every lead that might, possibly lead to any kind of interview. I’m pulling for you!
