I am still not just a geek…

The moon is a Third Quarter Moon

I am, however, a Level 5 Perl Monk.

Monday, I was informed that I had gained enough experience to be granted the status of Beadle, or Level 5, on PerlMonks.org as of Monday morning. Now, this may not mean much to you non-geeks, but for Perl geeks this is really something. Granted, it’s not as impressive as getting that rank in a week or getting all the way up to Level 13, which gets you listed on the “Saints in Our Book” node, but it does represent a certain achievement in my book.

And, yes, I will still be working toward higher levels. ‘Cause that’s just the kind of geek I am.

  2. Ooh Perl Monk sounds like someone’s pr0n name. You know where you the name of your street and first pet?
Hahahaha, its so very far removed from actually geekiness.

I used to work admin for an IT company, so I have a soft spot for geeks. I know some of you are quite lovely!

  3. Well, thank you, ladies. I’m pretty rusty on my Perl, to be honest, but I still managed to occasionally cobble something together that people find of value. Honestly, as I was telling a friend just yesterday, I’m not quite as sharp with this, or any other language, since chemotherapy. Others may not notice the change, but I do.

(And, if I were ever to be involved in that end of the “pr0n” business, Dataceptionist, I’m sure I’d go by something more traditional, like “Dirk Magnum” or “Chip Rock” or “Flint Stone”. It’s just my way.)
