Oh, wow, I almost missed it this year!

Today is System Administrator Appreciation Day.
I was reminded by Gizmodo that today is the day to remember the geeks that make your network run.  Sure, you’d mostly rather see us locked into our server rooms and hardware closets, but, admit it, when something goes terribly wrong with your computer or network, you’re actually happy to see us.  So, since you’re able to read this, find your local system administrator and tell them thank you for letting you waste time reading my blog on the Internet instead of working on a Friday afternoon.

Happy SysAdmin Day!

For those of you who don’t know, today is System Administrator Appreciation Day. In fact, it’s the 5th annual SysAdmin Day. I have yet to get appreciated on SysAdmin Appreciation Day, but I keep hoping.
If you’d like to appreciate me, you can get me something from my ThinkGeek WishList. Or, if you’d like to appreciate your own very, special SysAdmin, you can check out their SysAdmin Day Gift Suggestions. Hey, it’s never too late!

A new holiday?

Well, there’s Secretary’s Day and Boss’ Day and Mother’s Day, so why not Sys Admin’s Day? This has actually been around for some time, but I didn’t have much of a blog then, so….
Anyway, here’s to System Administrator Appreciation Day and the idea behind it. So, go find your SysAdmin and give him, or her, a big hug and say thanks for the extra hours and the weekends spent maintaining your company’s back office systems. And, don’t worry, most of us are so lonely in that server room that we won’t even file sexual harassment charges or anything.
